Hotel Post in Lech: from snowshoe hikes to Easter egg hunts

Winter family holidays in Lech: With Austria’s largest ski area on its doorstep, the Post on the Arlberg is the perfect place for young and old to spend a fun-filled holiday in the snow.

What makes a holiday in Arlberg and at the Post so special? The variety of activities on offer for young and old. The traditional five-star hotel is now run by the third generation, which is why your hosts, Florian and Sandra Moosbrugger, are particularly fond of families. As well as wellness and relaxation, adventurous skiers and snowboarders can enjoy the powder snow and crystal clear mountain air. If you’re not so keen on skis, you can snowshoe, toboggan or take a horse-drawn sleigh ride through the unspoilt countryside.

Whether you are a professional or a beginner, there is something for everyone in Austria’s largest ski area. 88 lifts, 350 kilometres of groomed slopes and 200 kilometres of deep-snow descents make Lech a mecca for skiers. But not every family feels at home on the slopes, and the Post offers plenty of alternatives. Take a winter snowshoe hike to explore the stunning mountain scenery, build a snowman or have a rollicking snowball fight. The natural ice rink in nearby Zürs or the ice rink in Lech are ideal for skating. Those who prefer to whizz down the slopes without skis or snowboards can grab a toboggan or a Zipfelbob and race down the snow-covered mountains, while cross-country skiers can enjoy over 27 kilometres of perfectly groomed trails.

An absolute highlight is a romantic horse-drawn sleigh ride through Lech and the enchanting, snow-covered winter landscape. During the day you can gaze out over the white mountain scenery, and later in the evening over the glittering starry sky. An insider’s tip is to take a torchlight walk through the nearby woods at dusk. And as soon as spring starts to knock on the door, young guests can look forward to the diligent Easter snow bunny “Post”, who will be hiding colourful chocolate eggs around the traditional hotel at Easter time. Let the search begin!
